Office of Environmental Health and Safety

OEHS is dedicated to providing a safe and healthy environment for the students and employees of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Our mission is supported through the inspection of schools and facilities, and careful evaluation of all schools to ensure a school environment that is health-protective and conducive to learning.  OEHS accomplishes this through the administration of a wide range of environmental, health, and safety programs including:  indoor and environmental air quality, environmental assessment of school sites, emergency response, injury reduction, safety training, Safe School Inspections, construction inspections, solid and hazardous management, traffic and pedestrian safety, environmental compliance, asbestos compliance, and lead in drinking water.
